5 Things You Don’t Know About Me (And Why I Know So Much About Orlando)

When you visit a new online shop, it’s easy to wonder:
“Who’s behind this?”
“Do they really know what they’re talking about?”

So let me properly introduce myself.

I’m Lornz, the person behind Parkboundco — the travel gear shop for families heading to theme parks around the world from the UK with specialist experience of the Orlando area and theme parks. And I don’t just love Orlando… I’ve lived in it, raised children there, and return every year.

Here are five things you didn’t know about me — and why they matter if you're planning a trip to Orlando.

1. I Lived in Orlando & Kissimmee for 12 Years

From 1991 to 2003, Central Florida wasn’t just a holiday destination — it was home. I lived in both Orlando (3 yrs) and Kissimmee (9 yrs), right in the heart of theme park territory. We weren’t tourists, we were locals, and we lived with Mickey practically in our backyard, (he also paid our wages).

That means I know the area well, the back roads, and the shortcuts that save time when the parks are heaving. I’ve battened down the hatches for hurricanes, in fact lived through every kind of Florida weather, and figured out the kind of gear that keeps you dry, cool, and sane on a day out.

2. My Sons Were Born in Orlando — and They Still Live There

Both of my boys were born in Florida, and although we eventually moved back to the UK, they’ve since returned to Orlando as adults. I fly out every year to visit them — which means I’m in Florida regularly, and I’m still tuned into how things work there today.

What’s changed? Lots.
What hasn’t? The need for smart travel prep and the right gear — especially when you’re navigating Orlando and theme parks with kids (or teens… or husbands). 

3. We had a Family of Disney Cast Members

Yes — we were a Disney family. My children's Dad and Uncle worked at Walt Disney World, which meant we had insider access and spent a lot of time in the parks.

I didn’t just visit on holidays — I walked those paths weekly, often pushing a stroller in one hand and holding a melting Mickey Bar with the other.

4. Even Though It’s Changed — I Still Know My Way Around

Yes, Orlando’s theme parks have evolved (don’t we all miss 90's EPCOT and old-school FastPass?), but the core experience is still the same: long days, heat, rain, queues, magic, meltdowns, snacks, and of course making great memories.

What worked in the '90s — comfy shoes, good snacks, organisation, and a solid plan — still works today. And I built Parkboundco to help families prepare for it all.

5. Parkbound Was Born from Experience — Not Trend

I didn’t start Parkboundco because I saw a niche. I started it because every time I fly out to Orlando, I see families struggling with the same things:

• Too much stuff, but not the right stuff

• Kids and Dads bored and uncomfortable on long haul flights

• Kids overheating or soaking wet

• Snacks thrown in Loungefly's with consequence and regret

• Toiletries exploding in luggage

• Little things causing big stress

I started designing, sourcing, and curating products I wish I’d had when my boys were little — and that I still use now when I travel with my partner to visit my lads.
